"This own-initiative report has come out at an opportune moment. Young people are living extraordinarily difficult lives, owing to high levels of unemployment. As such, whatever the sector involving young people, we need to understand how it can be at the service of combating the crisis. In this case, it is important to realise how the Bologna Process, in particular, can help. Moreover, despite the levels of unemployment amongst qualified young people, it is crucial that Europe does not allow the dissemination of the idea that our model for growth should not depend on the qualifications of the workforce. Bologna is still making its way. Any student involved in a course at any European university should be able to see the qualification that they have obtained recognised throughout the European Union. As that is still not the case throughout the EU, it is important to speed up this harmonisation. This is the only way that a genuine ‘European Higher Education Area’ will be possible. The more expansive the area of knowledge, the more opportunities there are for young Europeans who, as is well known, are not affected uniformly by this crisis throughout the EU."@en1
