"Mr President, the EU must respect the principles of international law, and not accept the agricultural agreement with Morocco, unless production in the occupied Western Sahara is excluded from it. Of course, a new agreement can be made, as long as Western Sahara is excluded from it. It is important to establish close cooperation between the EU and Morocco, and achieve an agreement on fisheries and agriculture, but human rights issues should not be sidelined. Human rights are universal, inseparable and interdependent. Morocco cannot decide on trade relations on behalf of Western Sahara, which it occupies. From the commercial perspective, the agreement might also harm the competitiveness of European producers. The agreement recommends industrial agriculture, which would require a lot of capital. I myself recommended support for sustainable farming and family farmers. The European Union should act in accordance with its values in everything it does."@en1
