lpv:translated text	"Mr President, during the economic and financial crisis, it has emerged that several individual national deposit guarantee schemes in Europe had problems. In addition to seeing a lowering of depositor confidence, the State and, ultimately, the taxpayer had to bear the consequences of the failure of a bank. I therefore consider it right to adopt appropriate measures to achieve significantly better protection for depositors which, taking into account the heterogeneity of the various European banking markets, may implement common requirements applicable to all deposit guarantee schemes, primarily the right to be protected up to EUR 100 000 and the short time limit for repayments to depositors where they are due."@en1
