lpv:translated text	"In September 2010, the European Commission adopted three complementary measures intended to facilitate the implementation and uptake of fast and ultrafast broadband in the European Union. In May 2011, the European Parliament adopted its opinion at first reading, having made 88 amendments to the proposal tabled by the Commission. The most important of the amendments adopted are extending the allocations of the unlicensed spectrum to allow for greater use of Wi-Fi and guaranteeing all EU citizens access to broadband at not less than 30 Mbps by 2020. I am voting for the draft at second reading tabled by the European Parliament, since I consider this an important means for the EU to take the global lead on broadband speeds, mobility, coverage and capacity. I also believe this will lead to exponential growth in mobile data traffic, helping to create a pan-European telecommunications market, which will benefit around 500 million consumers."@en1
