"I voted against this, as I believe it should be the prerogative of Member States to establish unique bilateral contracts with third countries. Although the strategic importance of Morocco in North Africa, given the recent uprisings of the Arab Spring, cannot be denied, cooperation involves the corroboration of an EU arm of foreign policy which, again, I deem to be unaccountable, as I hold the opinion that only domestic governments should have sovereignty over the foreign relations of Member States."@en1
