"The protocol agreed between the European Union and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau setting out fishing opportunities and a financial contribution means that EU countries, particularly Portugal, can fish in Guinea-Bissau territorial waters. It means that both parties to the agreement can benefit mutually and economically from a healthy relationship, which will contribute greatly to the economic sustainability of this African country. Furthermore, this agreement, which replaces the previous fisheries partnership agreement of 18 March 2008, proves that constructive collaboration between the EU and this African country has been beneficial to both parties and could, thereby, contribute to the progressive development of Guinea-Bissau and the security of the maritime area of which it is a part."@en1
