"The economic sphere is certainly the area in which the Member States have made the greatest effort, giving up substantial parts of their national sovereignty to the European institutions in an attempt to bring down barriers and create a European economy. The creation of a common market is the most important outcome of the European integration processes that began over 50 years ago.
Even so, there are still sectors today where action is needed to remove some of the remaining barriers. One such barrier is the existence of different laws on business registers, which can therefore vary considerably in format, legal significance and the information they contain.
That is why the proposals contained in the report adopted today represent an important step forward towards an increasingly common single market, because they will speed up the bureaucratic procedures that operators in the sector often have to face."@en1
