This upsurge in cross-border economic activity requires better interconnection of business registers. At present, it is easy to find information about companies in the country where they are registered. However, access to the same information in another Member State may be hampered by a number of technical or linguistic obstacles. The frequency of updating commercial data is not harmonised, with users lacking information about how correct this data is. Interconnecting business registers is of paramount importance. However, the success of this interconnection will depend entirely on the closest possible cooperation between the Commission and Member States."@en1
