The aim of the proposal is to entrust the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (Trade Marks and Designs) with certain tasks concerning the running of the European Observatory on Counterfeiting and Piracy in order to combat infringements of intellectual property rights. The main objectives are to increase awareness in the public and private sectors of the impact of counterfeiting and piracy and to inform consumers of the dangers of buying counterfeit goods."@en1
