"This report rightly acknowledges the importance of the Daphne programme in combating violence against children, young people and women. Since there is a proposal that this programme be included in the multiannual financial framework 2014-2020 as part of the future rights and citizenship programme, the report urges that the latter should include the objective of ‘combating violence against women’ and retain the same level of funding that the Daphne programme has had to date. However, in order to ensure that this objective is not diluted and ‘lost’ in the midst of so many others, we believe that specific funding should be in place for the Daphne programme, and that this funding should be greater than for the previous programmes. In view of the importance that small women’s organisations, trades unions and NGOs have in defending and promoting women’s rights and combating the violence affecting them, we think the report needed to set out clear measures enabling these organisations to access the programme’s funds."@en1
