"The Daphne programme, which aims to protect and combat violence against women, children and young people, is extremely important and necessary in the European Union. According to the statistics, between one-fifth and one-quarter of all women in Europe have experienced physical acts of violence at least once during their adult lives, and one-tenth of European women have experienced sexual violence involving the use of force. There can be no doubt that, owing to political and legislative differences between Member States, the rights of women within the EU are not protected equally. In my opinion, we should develop a network for international cooperation between projects across the entire European Union with the aim of combating violence. For this reason, I voted in favour of the report on the Daphne programme drafted by Regina Bastos."@en1
