"The European Parliament oversees virtually all activities of the European Union. The process of appointment to individual positions allows it to exercise a controlling function not only in relation to the European institutions, but also in relation to its other constituents. In recent days, during the current opening plenary session held in 2012, the seats in the various parliamentary committees have been redistributed. Disregarding for a moment their actual composition in terms of the representation of members of various political factions, in my opinion, it is necessary, in particular, to take into consideration expertise or previous experience under all circumstances when addressing issues of responsibility. Finally, it is important to ensure compliance with gender equality, since there are still many issues in various areas of life (social, cultural, political and economic) where women do not enjoy the same conditions as men, despite numerous successes in enhancing the status of women."@en1
