"The World Forum for Harmonisation of Vehicle Regulations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is a single framework for the comprehensive harmonisation of these regulations, and has participants from all over the world, in particular, the main countries that produce motor vehicles. Harmonisation of these regulations has tangible benefits for road safety, for environmental protection and for trade. The rapporteur is proposing that Parliament adopt the draft Council decision on the accession of the Union to Regulation No 29 of the UNECE on uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to the protection of the occupants of the cab of a commercial vehicle, since it will enable the application of the same standards in many countries, so cutting red tape and contributing to the ability of European industry to compete more widely and easily. That is why I voted in favour."@en1
