"The results of the ballot in the election to the office of Vice-President of the European Parliament are as follows: Othmar KARAS: 305 votes Miguel Angel MARTÍNEZ MARTÍNEZ: 276 votes Edward McMILLAN-SCOTT: 225 votes Georgios PAPASTAMKOS: 324 votes Gianni PITTELLA: 306 votes Anni PODIMATA: 269 votes Jacek PROTASIEWICZ: 267 votes László SURJÁN: 256 votes Indrek TARAND: 104 votes Alejo VIDAL-QUADRAS: 325 votes Votes cast: 703 Oldřich VLASÁK: 196 votes Rainer WIELAND: 268 votes I find that no candidate has achieved the necessary absolute majority of the votes cast in the first ballot. Because all 14 positions are still not filled, a second ballot is required. I would like to ask the candidates whether they all wish to remain as candidates in a second ballot. Is there anyone who wishes to withdraw his or her candidacy? No one has come forward. We shall then present the same list of candidates in the second ballot. All the candidates in the first ballot remain. We shall now begin with the process of a second ballot. The results will be published this evening, but if there is a third vote, it will take place tomorrow. The result of the ballot will be announced before the end of the day. The third ballot will take place tomorrow. Invalid voting slips: 14 Valid votes cast: 689 The absolute majority is thus 345 votes. I shall announce the number of votes cast in the alphabetical order of the candidates’ names. Alexander ALVARO: 199 votes Roberta ANGELILLI: 316 votes Isabelle DURANT: 182 votes"@en1
