"European legislation on health and safety at work is already fairly comprehensive, in line with the Treaty and Charter of Fundamental Rights. However, according to this report, there are measures still to be taken, particularly with regard to psychological and social conditions. At the same time, there is a call for the Member States to apply the directives already adopted, so that harmonisation can be increasingly broad. In addition, as preventative measures, Parliament is asking the Member States to increase staff and resources for workplace inspections and strengthen a worker/employer partnership, in view of the shortcomings that may exist in an organisation and in the workplace. Health and safety at work cannot be seen as just one more burden for businesses, but rather as a way of increasing well-being in the workplace, leading to greater productivity."@en1
