"I voted in favour of the report, which is extremely important, given the insecurity prevailing among workers in numerous EU Member States as a result of the economic crisis and high unemployment rates. The report makes the vital point that the Member States should increase workplace inspection staff and funds and achieve a target of one inspector per 10 000 workers, in keeping with the recommendations of the International Labour Organisation, which are currently being flouted. At the same time, greater emphasis needs to be placed on workers’ mental health problems, so that they are in keeping with procedures to identify and prevent risks in the workplace."@en1
