"I voted in favour of the own-initiative report by Mr Grosch that regulates a crucial area of our lives that is necessary and fundamental in order for our society to function. I share and support the objectives that have been set in order to achieve more competitive and efficient transport by 2050, with two intermediate stages in 2020 and 2030, putting an end to the obstacles existing between Member States. I support the text of the report, which appears to be consistent and uniform, and very exhaustive, embracing all the various forms of transport (road, rail, air and water) and guaranteeing sustainability in each of these areas as well as a comprehensively consistent and efficient network. The fact that it tackles the various issues affected by transport, ranging from the repercussions for the internal market to innovation, and of course road safety, is a good thing in my view. A key point in the report that I particularly appreciated is environmental sustainability, which puts the focus on using more environmentally friendly, energy-saving means of transport."@en1
