"Transport is an important issue for cities and regions, because, not only does it ensure a link between them, but it also contributes to consolidating the position of the EU as a place for research and innovation; as such, it is a key element in the development of the EU and its regions, directly influencing their social cohesion.
The creation of a Single European Transport Area as a goal of the future European transport policy is thus directly linked to regional, environmental, economic, social and employment policy. Owing to this link, the transport sector can make a significant contribution to the Europe 2020 strategy. I voted for this report for these reasons."@en1
