I voted in favour of the report because it urges the Commission to maintain close watch on developments in the European banking sector. As regards fines and the settlement procedure for violations of antitrust rules and anti-competitive behaviour, I am also of the opinion that the policy on the imposition of fines remains an important deterrent while encouraging compliance."@en1
