lpv:translated text	"Mr President, I voted for the report drafted by Mr Lisek because I think that the current financial crisis has also affected the defence sector in Member States. In these circumstances, there is an even greater need for coordinated planning and complementarity between national policies. This will ensure that an optimum cost-benefit ratio is achieved and will increase the EU’s competitiveness. This is why I think that the challenge posed by the crisis can be turned into an opportunity for giving the necessary impetus to a genuine common defence policy. I should point out the recommendations made in paragraph 22 concerning practical solutions for pooling and sharing military equipment. I should stress the importance of cooperation with the US and NATO to avoid needless duplication of effort and ensure greater efficiency."@en1
