"In a speech I gave six months ago at the beginning of the Polish Presidency, I stated that Central Europe has never been so much in the centre of the EU, and that we must prove that the enlargement of the European Union was a success. I believe that we succeeded in this, and that both Hungary and Poland successfully met the challenge, of which we can all be proud. It was also at that time that I requested that the Polish Presidency pay attention to people with disabilities. During the previous Presidency trio (Spain-Belgium-Hungary), this issue had special priority. My concerns were sadly not unfounded, as the Polish Presidency did not continue the work previously started in this field. To me, this is unacceptable. I hope that the Danish Presidency will right this deficiency. I believe that 80 million disabled people deserve to be treated as a special priority by any Presidency."@en1
