"I voted for the text presented by Mr Sturdy which analyses the restrictive measures facing international trade which have been adopted in recent years by the European Union’s major partners.
It can undoubtedly be said that the advantages of trade liberalisation are best felt in those countries that have eliminated tariffs and non-tariff barriers, fully enjoying the opportunities offered by the ‘open market’. Finding the right balance between trade openness and temporary market closures is essentially the equilibrium EU trade negotiators have to seek in the run-up to all trade negotiations, and especially free trade agreements."@en1
