The EU is based on freedom of movement within its borders, but also on freedom of trade and investment with third countries. This is the correct model, and I am not asking for it to be reviewed. However, as the French President rightly pointed out only last week in Marseille, we cannot impose quality standards on our producers and industries if these are not then met by the products that we import.
