"I voted in favour of this report because I think globalisation only has positive effects when we can control the direction it takes. My generation on this continent has access to a range of goods and services that would be unimaginable in other periods of history and in other parts of the world. At the same time, the opening of international trade has allowed the economy to grow from strength to strength, with positive effects for the majority of citizens. This does not mean that we should not consider balancing measures, which, despite themselves, make us more exposed on the international market, and on the subject of equality, we cannot allow barriers which protect inefficiencies that are of exclusive advantage to the few people who benefit from them. I wait to see the Commission’s proposal on this issue for further increasing the wellbeing of European citizens."@en1
