"The economic and financial constraints that some EU Member States are facing raise various questions as to the commitments that they have made as part of the cofinancing of EU programmes under the structural and cohesion funds, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the European Fisheries Fund. In the specific case of the EAFRD, the risk of losing this EU support increases if the Member States do not provide clear proof of a real national contribution. In view of this, the Commission has proposed a temporary increase for 2011-2012 of this cofinancing for Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Latvia and Romania, currently, and it is supported by Parliament, whose rapporteur has only introduced six amendments, with a view to making the procedures quicker. For the reasons that I have stated, I voted for this report."@en1
