"I voted in favour of this legislative resolution and welcomed the European Parliament’s position at second reading. Micro-entities are currently subject to the same rules as larger companies. It has been found that the extensive reporting rules applied to them are not in proportion to their specific accounting needs and create a cost burden which can hinder the appropriate use of capital for productive purposes. The objective of the Commission’s proposal for a directive is to simplify the business environment and particularly the financial reporting requirements for micro-entities in order to enhance their competitiveness and release their development potential. The amendments to the directive should reduce the administrative burden while safeguarding adequate protection and information for stakeholders and enable the alignment of micro-entities’ reporting requirements with the real needs of users and producers. I welcome Parliament’s position that the Commission should present a report on the situation of micro-entities no later than five years after the entry into force of the directive."@en1
