Created in 1975, its objectives are to audit accounts and improve the financial management of the EU. The Court of Auditors may carry out audits of any person or organisation responsible for managing EU funds, and their conclusions are presented in writing in the form of reports, which are sent to the Commission and the governments of the EU Member States. The Member States present a proposal to the Council, which approves the list of members of the Court of Justice following consultation with Parliament.
