"I voted for this proposal which aims to create a Letter of Rights for individuals arrested in any one of the 27 Member States. The proposal for a directive on the right to information in criminal matters presented by the European Commission in July 2010 is the second step of the list of measures contained in the road map on procedural rights. It aims at setting common minimum standards as regards the right to information in criminal proceedings throughout the European Union. The first step, on the right to interpretation and translation, is a directive adopted on 8 October 2010."@en1
