"I voted for this report as I think that the right to information in criminal proceedings must be guaranteed in all Member States. European citizens currently have the right to move around and live anywhere in the European Union. On the other hand, they must be subject to the rules of 27 judicial systems which are very often extremely different. In this situation, harmonising the legislation on providing information to defendants in criminal proceedings is vital and guarantees that the rights of European citizens are protected in any Member State of the European Union."@en1
