"The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) receives annual funding of EUR 500 million with the aim of providing financial support to workers affected by major structural changes in world trade patterns. On 31 October 2011, the Commission accepted a new proposal for a decision on the mobilisation of the EGF on behalf of Italy to assist with the reintegration into the labour market of workers who have been made redundant as a result of the global financial and economic crisis. This report concerns an application for EUR 3 918 850 from the EGF for a company in Südtirol. I voted in favour of the report in order to show solidarity with the redundant workers and to reduce the negative impact. However, this does not alter the fact that there is a fundamental need for a change in the EU’s world trade policy. We must put a stop to dumped imports from emerging economies which are ruining our domestic industry."@en1
