lpv:translated text	"Following the earthquake that struck Spain’s Murcia region last May and the floods that hit the Veneto region between late October and early November 2010, the countries in question have requested access to the EU’s Solidarity Fund. In the case of the Veneto region, the Commission recognised EUR 676 375 of direct damage as eligible, proposing assistance from the Solidarity Fund totalling EUR 17 million. This is on top of the EUR 21 million proposed for Spain, resulting in the need for an amending budget totalling EUR 37.9 million. I welcome this show of solidarity from the EU, which has once again taken action to aid a Member State – in this case my country – which made the request and will now benefit from the mobilisation of the Solidarity Fund, as decided by the Commission.
