"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, allow me to take this opportunity to also respond to the provocative speech delivered by Mr Kozlík. Already after the enactment of the Slovakian language law and the maintenance of the Beneš decrees I proposed here in Strasbourg, in this House, that the European Union apply some form of sanctions against Slovakia. Now, Slovakia, not having been subjected to any sanctions, is continuing its rampage. And let us say it: the intention of Slovakia and the Slovakian Government is to erase the Hungarian population of almost half a million living in the historic region of Upper Hungary from the map. In order to achieve this they even go as far as withdrawing the Slovakian citizenship of one Hungarian in Upper Hungary after another. The inhumane nature of the actions of the Slovakian Government is also demonstrated by last week’s incident where a 100-year-old Hungarian teacher was deprived of her Slovakian citizenship.
And Slovakia will keep up this chauvinistic, anti-Hungarian, racist attitude as long as it is not subjected either to financial penalties or to any other sanction by the European Union, be it even the temporary suspension of its EU membership. Thank you for your attention."@en1
