lpv:translated text	"Madam President, securing the protection of people who are threatened by the perpetrators of criminal acts when moving around the EU involves coming up against the differing legal environments and traditions of individual Member States. The introduction of the European Protection Order therefore also creates a need to perform an extensive comparison of protective measures in civil matters in the individual Member States, in order to achieve an equal level of protection for people shielded by an EU Protection Order. I am pleased that the European Council, in accordance with the resolution on a roadmap for strengthening the rights and protection of victims in criminal proceedings, supported the interlinking of the Regulation on mutual recognition of protection measures in civil matters with the Directive on the European Protection Order. People repeatedly threatened by perpetrators of criminal acts surely deserve to have a good, effective and comprehensive system of protection throughout the EU."@en1
