"Madam President, through the adoption and promotion of legislation, the European Parliament has supported and continues to support any measure that helps combat violence against women.
I welcome the report from my two colleagues, which proposes to extend the scope of the directive in force so as to be able to protect women who have fallen victim to different forms of violence by an identified perpetrator, as well as children or other adults related to them.
I also appreciate that the report proposes that the European protection order should be applicable to all victims of crime, as well as to witnesses, victims of terrorism and organised crime, irrespective of their age or gender, when there is an identified aggressor.
Last but not least, I think that the competent authorities must take account of the needs of victims, especially in the case of vulnerable people such as minors or people with disabilities."@en1
