"The single market has brought about enormous benefits for the 500Â million European citizens and has given European businesses new opportunities to expand. This resolution suggests that the points of single contact be developed into fully-fledged e-Government centres allowing entrepreneurs to submit and manage administrative formalities online.
The Digital Single Market will only be complete once technical setbacks to cross-border trade and to the provision of cross-border services have been overcome. The public procurement sector needs to be professionalised, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) need to step up their involvement in the award of public contracts. This resolution also suggests the use of an effective, accessible and straightforward alternative dispute-resolution system. It is clear that the Digital Single Market promotes innovation, which, with the support of the Commission’s coordinated initiatives and the commitment of the Member States, will create new opportunities for businesses, particularly SMEs. This will encourage job creation and social cohesion and will lead to sustainable economic growth; it will also meet the social needs of European consumers and citizens. I voted for this resolution for these reasons."@en1
