"In favour. The outcome of the draft report (see link) of the ECON committee is the result of a long process. Nine committees drafted opinions which are well reflected in the final text as the rapporteur decided to vote most of them in a chapter called ‘sectoral contributions to the European Semester’. More than 350 amendments were tabled in ECON. In order to avoid the ‘left-right’ clash of the economic governance package, Ms Berès opted for a smart and inclusive process of negotiation which led to a good outcome. Most key Green amendments (47) survived through the negotiation process, including the following very good elements: - The EP commits to organise a public hearing to hold a dialogue based on the ‘comply or explain’ principle with the Commission and the Council at which the recommendations from the Commission, and the changes introduced by the Council, would be discussed. - The report emphasises that the guidelines for the employment policies of Member States and the broad economic guidelines both form integral parts of the European Semester and are equally important for the achievement of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The report also asks the Council and the Commission to ensure that all policy recommendations are consistent with the integrated guidelines."@en1
