Having always worked to fulfil the tasks assigned by the EU since the start of accession negotiations, Croatia will be a reliable partner at European level. For this reason, we should welcome the closer integration of the Croatian people, who have always belonged to Europe in cultural terms. Unlike other accession candidates, such as Turkey for example, there is no doubt in relation to Croatia that accession is a logical step in European integration once all the criteria are met – provided that this is the wish of the Croatian people. For this reason, I have voted in favour of Croatia’s application for membership of the European Union."@en1
