lpv:translated text	"As we all remember, the EU accession of Croatia was a special priority of the Hungarian EU Presidency programme. Therefore, at this historic moment when we decided with an overwhelming majority in favour of Croatia becoming a full Member State of the EU, I consider it particularly important to highlight the immense efforts made by the Hungarian Presidency for the conclusion of the accession negotiations. I am pleased to note that the Hungarians’ commitment has borne fruit. With the European Parliament approving Croatia’s accession today, we have opened a new chapter in the life of the EU. Enlargement is undeniable proof of the strength of European integration. At the same time, we must not forget that the ratification of the Accession Treaty by the Member States, and the Croatian referendum, still lie before us; however, if everything proceeds as planned, Croatia may join the European Union in July 2013. I am of the opinion that today’s decision is beneficial for all parties concerned. Accession is not only of enormous significance for Croatia, but is also of strategic importance for Hungary and all the countries in the region. At the same time, I also hope that this enlargement will be able to give new impetus to the EU project as well."@en1
