"The battle against early school leaving (ESL) by our Union is absolutely fundamental and has my full support. We live in highly competitive times, and learning and educational culture are the foundations for enabling young people to be successful in their lives and the world of work. Education shapes people, making them better prepared for life and used to social interaction. ESL must be tackled especially when it is caused by bullying or drug addiction and schools need to provide pastoral care so that youngsters can find the support they need to help them through difficult times."@en1
