With the objective of clarifying the existing doubts regarding the eligibility of certain types of aid, in August 2011, the European Commission tabled a draft amendment to Council Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006 regarding repayable assistance and financial engineering, clarifying the eligibility for repayable assistance and introducing obligations to report on financial instruments. This report will enable the Member States to award support in the form of repayable assistance to all types of entity, thereby making it possible to make use of the Structural Funds a number of times over the course of the programming period.
