"Equality of treatment between men and women is a cause that has always been dear to me and one that I continue to support. We all have the same rights, but we should not forget that there are differences, more obviously for women in terms of maternity protection and combining working and family life. The European Parliament demonstrates the equality of men and women, as there are many women in this Chamber who have distinguished themselves by the quality of their work, and for this reason I should like to say once more that I see no need to bring in some artificial mechanism for achieving equality. Ability should always have the last word."@en1
