"The European audiovisual sector is an important part of the European Union’s economy and should be more competitive globally. European film is an important part of culture, promoting dialogue and understanding, integrating and showing European values inside and outside the European Union, while playing a significant role in preserving and supporting cultural and linguistic diversity.
I would like to stress that film education helps develop an analytical mind and improve the general knowledge of young people and older generations, while it also enables them to learn about cinema heritage and become aware of the complexity of the world of images and sounds. Cinema culture and language allow citizens to gain a critical understanding of different mass media forms, thereby increasing and enhancing the resources and opportunities offered by ‘digital literacy’."@en1
