The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) is an instrument intended to assist the reintegration of workers who have lost their jobs as a result of the ongoing process of globalisation of world markets. This fund supports workers and does not aim to benefit the business that made the redundancies in any way. With regard to the case in question, I voted in favour since Greece’s request to mobilise a total of EUR 2 918 500 from the EGF for 642 redundancies targeted for assistance did not contain any particular critical issues and it fulfilled the criteria required for its activation."@en1
