lpv:translated text	"Madam President, I, too, would like to begin by welcoming the debate on this detailed report drafted by Ms Paliadeli. I should point out that the European Heritage Label complements other similar programmes, such as the UNESCO World Heritage List. The programme supports the exchange of good practices between sites, with the aim of improving the provision of information and communication. At the same time, the European Heritage Label harmonises environmental protection measures in the areas where the cultural sites are located. It is important to incorporate in the programme the historical monuments of the EU, around which present-day Europe has been created. I welcome the promotion of sites with a cross-border aspect. At a regional level, they have provided the foundation for European integration. Romania was among the 15 Member States which launched this project in 2007, and the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest was on the first list of sites to enjoy this distinction."@en1
