lpv:translated text	"Madam President, Commissioner Vassiliou, in acknowledgement of the efforts and cooperation of the European Parliament, the Commission and the Council, as well as the successive Spanish, Belgian and Hungarian Presidencies, I would like to thank you for, and welcome, the EU-wide creation of the European Heritage Label. The new label fortunately complements existing international programmes such as the UNESCO World Heritage List or the Council of Europe’s ‘European Cultural Routes’ programme. The general extension of European heritage is especially important and beneficial for Central and Eastern European countries and nations which joined the European Union later, are less well known, and were formerly isolated by the Iron Curtain, as the incorporation of their universal values into the common cultural heritage effectively facilitates their actual integration and their catching up with the EU. Through the general introduction of the European Heritage Label, all nations comprising the EU will enrich each other as well as Europe as a whole."@en1
