"Mr President, I find this smug acquiescence of the EU in its continual failure to manage unacceptable accounting procedures deplorable.
The people of the UK, who I would remind you are the second largest contributors to this project, are sick and tired of the EU and all the corruption that goes on on a daily basis, especially as people are witnessing severe cutbacks in public services.
What I find most alarming, however, is the notion held by the unelected Commission that because this happens year after year, 17 in total, it is in some way acceptable.
It is clear that the EU has shown its inability to guarantee that it has legitimately spent taxpayers’ money. This just underlines how outrageous it is that the European Commission is seeking another increase in its budget when there are question marks over billions of euro of its expenditure."@en1
