I am opposed to the continuation of the food distribution scheme in the EU. I believe that the EU should work towards social and employment policies that put people in a position to live a dignified life without having to be dependent on free food hand-outs. I voted in favour of the report, however, because I believe that it contains very many positive elements and because I consider it to be crucial that, in the midst of an economic crisis, the Member States step up their efforts to combat poverty in the EU."@en1
