"I have voted in favour of the report. For the first time, regulations and restrictions on short selling are being introduced, which is a subject that the majority of the EU population knows nothing about. This move is the right one and it represents the start of an organised, but no longer completely unregulated, approach to financial transactions. The regulation is important because the much-vaunted markets have completely failed in this respect. When the situation is turned on its head and taxpayers or, in other words, all of us are responsible for the risk, we have the political right and also the responsibility to take regulatory measures."@en1
