"The complexities of the single market should not be underestimated and the fact that addressing the EU’s socio-economic problems entails working towards a market that is at the service of citizens and not the other way around. Therefore, the new Consumer Agenda should take into account the essential needs of ordinary citizens, especially the ones in the most vulnerable positions such as the young, uneducated, disabled or those without Internet access. In order to reach a more social and sustainable consumer policy, the Consumer Agenda should address core issues such as consumer empowerment, consumer protection and focus on actions towards enforcement of consumer rights and redress. The Commission should merge the various sources of information into a one-stop shop providing free, reliable, comparable, objective, multilingual and easily accessible information for consumers. The Commission should reinforce the role of EU citizens and consumers in the relaunch of the single market, by making them a main political variable in the determination and formulation of the future single market legislation."@en1
