".
I do not have the exact figures to be able to tell you who has repaid what, but I can tell you that use of these funds is monitored very closely.
The Member States must pay these penalties from one year to the next when settling their accounts. Each Member State subject to penalties is monitored. In certain situations, where the amounts are very high and the Member State concerned cannot pay it all back in one go, we can propose, if necessary, payment by instalments over a certain period of time. That is currently the case with Greece, for example. However, the situation is always monitored very rigorously. If you would like more detailed information, I can forward to you, if necessary in writing, details of the exact situation at present.
In any event, the Commission regularly presents to Parliament a report on the payment of these penalties."@en1
